Blumsom are committed to protecting the environment.
Our policy is to base our commercial activities on well-managed forest resources, recycle waste and meet, or exceed, all applicable environmental legislation.
Blumsom Policies
As members of the Timber Trade Federation there is a requirement to undertake environmental due diligence and as such we are signatories to the TTF’s Responsible Purchasing Policy.
The RPP provides a rick assessment based approach to progressively source increasing proportions of timber products from legal and sustainable sources and promote good procurement policies.
There is a requirement to report annually to appointed external auditors who access and verify the company’s progress and compliance under the policy.
C Blumsom Ltd. are certified for Chain of Custody. The current certificates are valid until 2023, issued by BM TRADA is in respect of processes and products which are eligible to carry the FSC® and PEFC logos.
Our FSC® Licence code is FSC-C013272. Our PEFC Licence code is PEFC/16-37-1654.
What is Chain of Custody?
Chain of custody is the mechanism for tracking timber through the whole supply chain, from the forest to its final use. Products certified by the FSC are classified by the UK government as both sustainable and legal – a criteria that is increasingly becoming a requirement for public sector building projects.
What products does FSC certification apply to?
Chain of Custody applies to most timber products provided by the Blumsom Timber Centre, including:
- Sawn hardwoods and softwoods
- Joinery
- Sheet Materials (including MDF, Plywood and OSB / Chipboard)
- Mouldings
- Decking
- Cladding
