Description

Zebrano is grown in West Africa, mainly Gabon and Cameroon Republic. The heartwood is straw-like in colour and distinctively marked with narrow veining or “streaks” of colour ranging from dark brown to almost black, giving the quartered surfaces a zebra-like appearance. The sapwood is whitish in colour and virtually without feature, with a wavy interlocked grain it produces a ribbon figure. The texture ranges from medium to coarse and has a high lusted surface.

The wavy grain of zebrawood produces both hard- and soft-grained materials, it is easy to saw, once seasoned. A slight to moderate blunting effect is experienced on most tools . The wood turns well, and has good sanding and gluing properties, although pre-boring may be necessary for to nailing. Zebrano wood can be varnished or polished to a beautiful finish.

Uses include:
– Sliced decorative veneer for cabinet work and high end furniture
