A trusted family business since 1896 – London’s last specialist hardwood importer.
Founded in 1896 by chair-maker Charles Robert Blumsom, C. Blumsom began as a timber importing business in Bethnal Green, East London.
As the company expanded, it moved to Bangs Wharf, Bow Bridge, before relocating to larger premises at Maple Wharf, River Road, Barking, where the business proudly remains today.
A defining moment came in 1980, when Robert Blumsom took control of the company. Understanding that growth depended on investment and innovation, Robert established an advanced on-site machining facility, shaping Blumsom into the modern timber and milling business it is today while staying true to its heritage.
Now in its fifth generation and celebrating 130 years of trading, Blumsom Timber & Milling is led by Robert Blumsom (Chairman), alongside Gary Hoy (Managing Director) and Freddie C. Blumsom (Sales Director).
The leadership team is further strengthened by Mark Price (Finance Director) and Elisabeth Blumsom (Director), whose long-standing support, experience, and attention to detail help keep the business running smoothly and everyone firmly in check.
Blumsom Timber & Milling welcomes both trade and retail customers, offering a comprehensive range of sheet materials, hardwoods, softwoods, lipping, and machined timber products, backed by generations of knowledge, craftsmanship, and commitment to quality.
